SA: Santos gas plant closed by fire

ADELAIDE, Jan 1 AAP - Investigations have begun into the gas leak and fire which shut
down South Australia's major gas supplier: the Santos plant at Moomba this afternoon.

A gas pipeline being constructed between Victoria and South Australia would be brought
online early to help meet the shortfall caused by the emergency closure.

Fifty South Australian businesses have been asked to shut down in the wake of the three-hour
fire, which broke out in the Liquids Recovery Plant section of the Moomba gas plant at
3am (CDT).
