1st LD: Chechen rebel leader claims responsibility for Moscowairport bomb
MOSCOW, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov hasclaimed responsibility for the suicide bombing attack last month ata Moscow airport, according to a website report.
During a video received late Monday, Umarov said he had orderedthe Jan. 24 attack at Domodedovo airport that killed some 36 peopleand injured more than 130 others, said the Kavkaz Center website.
Russian investigators said they had already targeted the firstsuspect, a 20-year-old man from Russia's volatile Caucasus region.
According to the website which is reportedly affiliated withChechen rebels, Umarov said the Caucasus region were at war with theRussian forces to defend "the people's right to dignity," to"liberate" the land of Caucasus and to establish "law and justice."
According to Moscow's RBC Daily on Monday, Umarov has threatenedto conduct new terror attacks in Russia.
In a video clip on the Internet, Umarov said his militants wouldconduct attacks in Russia "weekly or monthly."
In March 2010, Umarov claimed responsibility for the twin deadlyblasts in Moscow subway, which killed at least 37 people andinjuring some 65 others.
