Fed: Adler case a win for corporate regulator

MPs say businessman RODNEY ADLER'S guilty plea over his part in the HIH collapse shows
he's willing to cop the consequences of his actions.

ADLER faces a possible jail term after yesterday pleading guilty to charges including
dishonesty and making false statements in his time as a director of failed insurer HIH.

ADLER'S surprise guilty plea came on what should have been the first day of an expected
four-week jury trial in the New South Wales Supreme Court.

Government MP BRONWYN BISHOP says the guilty plea shows ADLER is prepared to take his medicine.

Labor's industrial relations spokesman STEPHEN SMITH says it shows the success of the
Australian Investments and Securities Commission as a corporate regulator.
